Utila Street Guide – Town Center to Mango Inn

At times Utila Town is a bustling center of dive commerce and day to day business.  At other times it is a ghost town (mostly in the early morning!).  In an attempt to present and represent the streets and businesses of Utila, we present the following Utila Street Guide, a walking photo tour for the main parts of town.

Arriving into Utila Harbor is exciting; for those visiting for the first time, it is a sense of adventure. For those living here, it is a welcome home. And for those who tend to get seasick, it is a merciful god.  When disembarking from the Utila Princess Ferry, one will collect baggage and survey the scene.  But it will be less than one second before people will begin the routine.  Just sit back and enjoy the ride.  If you need a taxi – “they” will find you one, if you need your luggage carried “they” will carry it, if you need a place to stay, “they” will show you, if you want to dive “they” will teach you.  Lots of willing young doers!

Editors Note:  Many establishments in Utila do not have a sign out front with the business’s name. Townspeople called upon to try to help you in your quest for a particular service may refer to the business as,”Alice’s place”, or “Bobby’s store”.  Keep in mind the actual name of the establishment may be something entirely different!
