Utila Live! Test Run Performers - Barefoot Band

If there is one thing anyone who has lived on Utila for any amount of time knows, it’s that Utila is all about having a great time. This is exactly what happened September 13, 2014 at Bando Beach. A trial run for the soon to be annual Utila. Live! Music Festival on Utila proved to be what the organizers had envisioned; music lovers gathering, celebrating, and enjoying their love of live music.

The festival, conceived by two expats living here on Utila, featured artists performing alternative, blues, classic rock, heavy metal, and hip hop. “My partner and I have been talking about this for a long time. When we found out that a strong group of artists happened to be on the Island at the same time, we decided to do the trial run. We couldn’t do it half way. We needed a real production. With the help of many friends, with diverse talents and the same interest in bringing live music to the Island we all love so much, it came together. We pulled it off. One thing we did not get out there well enough was the awesome food available on site. People really raved about it.”

The Real Utila Live!

The first official, of many annual Utila Live! Music Festivals, is slated for the Spring of 2015, although the exact date has yet to be announced. “Our goal is to produce an event as diverse musically as the people who attend. To create a true festival atmosphere including all day activities, a wide variety of vendors both of cuisine and crafts, and of course quality live music acts from multiple genres. To do this we will need sponsors, and we already have a major transportation company on board. We hope to gain sponsorship from all over Honduras to support this truly fun and uniquely diverse event, so we can recruit more amazing performers.

Utila. Live! Is one of several events that take place on the beautiful island of Utila, in the Bay Islands of Honduras. Want to know more?
