If you have the time while traveling to and from Utila and Roatan Bay Islands; then do it by boat! The experience is absolutely worth it as there are two great Boat Captains with nice, safe and secure vessels. Captain Dillard Whitefield and Captain Dennie Bush Jr. will both make sure you have a great safe experience and do their best to point out the Dolphins on the way. Located at their private dock across from Caribbean Dreams Apts. Lady Julia and Capt. Dillard offer individual passage from Utila to West End, Roatan.
Boat departure is at 7am and returns from the Coconut Tree Divers dock in Half Moon Bay at 1pm. The length of the trip runs approximately two and a half hours in calm seas and travel is based on weather permitting. The boat is a very stable 38.5’ and usually a comfortable ride. Plans are in place to install a larger engine in the near future for a faster trip. Trip cost is $50 per person, one way.
Capt. Dillard also offers private charters at $250 for 1-5 passengers with a discount given for 10 or more with a maximum of 16. Lady Julia can also transport small cargo, purchases, bikes and scooters to and from Roatan.

Boat leaves from Bush’s dock at 7:30am but it can be relocated for pick-up for groups. The boat ride takes from 45 minutes to one hour depending on the weather and arrives at either West Bay or West End.
Dennie departs from Coconut Tree dock in Half Moon Bay at 1:30pm. Reservations available by calling Dennie directly or stop by Bush’s supermarket.
Charters are available for Water Cay trips, Whale Shark Snorkeling and Fishing trips. Average cost for a private charter is $350, depending on how many people are going, individual passengers usually $65 one-way and $100 round trip.
