Miss Honduras: Miss Universe?

At Atlantis Paradise Resort, not only their beautiful swimming pools and their magnificent architecture are being noticed this week. The 84 candidates for Miss Universe 2009, who have been rehearsing and competing in various events all week long, are also attracting a lot of attention, including our own Miss Honduras.

A Brazilian journalist, Roberto Macedo, stated that Miss Honduras had much potential and could produce a surprise in the event. "Miss Honduras has charisma and it would be good if she qualified, as she has excellent projection, besides being very beautiful".

The Venezuelan designer, Gionni Straccia also spoke of being enchanted with Miss Honduras, "I saw a very pretty, attractive and exotic young woman who has enough possibilities. There are many Latins that can become Miss Universe. For me, the five best Latinas this year are: Ecuador, Honduras, Dominican Republic, Colombia and, by all means, Venezuela".

The organizer of the contest in Honduras, Carlos Rivera, affirmed that, "We are very trusting in a finalist position. The girl has strived and demonstrated her capacity. It is only necessary to hope. God has the last word. I have an enormous Honduras Flag to show with pride if she qualifies, but in any case, what happens, happens."

Walter Challapa, a Texas journalist, also admired our Honduran beauty in the preliminary fashion competition held last Sunday, "In full dress she was very elegant and flattered the design very well. That could have earned her many points with the judges". He also noted that she held herself and handled her body very well in a bathing suit.

Of the 84 beautiful women in the running for the Miss Universe 2009 title, only 58 finalists will be chosen to continue in the competition being held and broadcast this Sunday evening, when Dayana Mendoza will hand over the crown. Honduras is confident Miss Honduras, Belgica Suarez, will still be in the running.
