Honduras Wins Over Canada
Honduras beat Canada this afternoon, 1-0, qualifying them for the next round in the CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament. Honduras will be traveling to Soldier Field in Chicago to continue on to the semifinals in this difficult challenge. Honduras will be playing the United States yet again. Both teams are strong and there is much excitement over who will ultimately prevail.

Honduras vs. Canada
Honduras plays Canada in the quarterfinal Gold Cup tournament tomorrow at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. The last time these teams faced off, Honduras championed 3-1 (at home). That was in the semifinal round of the World Cup qualifying.
"I think it's going to be a beautiful game," said Honduras' manager Reinaldo Rueda. "We have to beat Canada"..."We beat them during the elimination. That's history. Now we have to beat them again."
Honduras is looking forward to the challenge, and believes they will be backed by a few thousand Honduran-Americans. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. in Honduras, 5:00 p.m. in Philadelphia.

March for Peace
Television stations in Honduras today, called upon all areas of the country to participate in marches for peace this Saturday, July 18th. The marches will coincide with the next round of Honduras' negotiations being held in Costa Rica. Marches are scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.

Two for One
The Secretary of Tourism and businesses will begin a massive campaign next week to advertise tourist packages with up to a 50% discount.
The objective is to give people a good reason to visit Honduras. The tourism industry has been hit hard as of late, due to
several factors. The economic recession has played a big part, in addition to the present political situation.
The Minister of Tourism, Ana Sandal, said that it is doubtless there will be irresistible offers, as the idea presented by the Tourism board was met with wide support by the airlines, hotels, and vehicle rental agencies. Various businesses met today to put together national and regional tourism packages with a 2 for 1 deal.

Seeking Artists
The Honduran Institute of Inter-American Culture, IHCI, opens its doors to artists who wish to participate in the "XII Bienal de Escultura y Ceramica" (Sculpture and Ceramics). Interested parties are asked present/display an unpublished and recent work that has not been exhibited in any contest. The works will be received at the IHCI during the month of July.

Honduran Delegation Heads to Washington
Leading members of the Honduran National Congress, members of the private sector, and former members of the Honduran Judiciary will hold a press conference in Washington, D.C. to speak on recent events in Honduras. The press conference will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at 3:00 p.m.
The delegation will be traveling to Washington for several days of meetings with United States policymakers to clarify any misunderstandings about Honduras' constitutional process and to discuss next steps to ensure the preservation of the country's democratic institutions.
