Honduras Plays Grenada
Honduras and Grenada will meet today at the CONCACAF Gold Cup. The game is crucial for both teams when it comes to surviving at the tournament.
Honduras coach Reinaldo Rueda will include his best players in the lineup; Walter Martinez, Roger Espinoza, Valladares and Carlos Costly will be playing for the win.

Talks to Continue
In separate sessions, Mr. Zelaya and Mr. Micheletti each met with Mr. Arias, President of Costa Rica. At the end of the first day of talks, Mr. Micheletti, said he was "totally satisfied" with the progress, and flew back to Honduras, leaving a four-man commission to continue the discussions.
Curfew in Effect
The U.S. Embassy in Tegucigalpa recommends American citizens defer all non-essential travel to Honduras until further notice.
The Embassy advises American citizens residing in and visiting Honduras to be cautious about traveling outside of city limits and to be aware of possible road blocks that might affect mobility around the country. The government of Honduras has imposed a curfew effective until further notice from 2300 (11:00 p.m.) to 04:30 (4:30 a.m.). The Embassy strongly recommends American citizens abide by this curfew.

Honduran Wins Gold
Cruz Rolando Palacios Castillo from Sambo Creek in Honduras was crowned the fastest man in the World University Games held in the Serbian capital of Belgrade. The 22 year old Honduran clocked 10.30 seconds to win the men's 100 meters, beating Ibrahim Seoud Amr of Egypt by just a hundredth of a second. Masashi Eriguchi of Japan came third in 10.33 seconds. Cruz participated in the Olympics in Beijing, and hopes to one day bring Honduras an Olympic Medal. He next goes on to the athletic competition in Germany to participate in the "Mundial de Atletismo".

Honduras Agrees to Talks
Mel Zelaya and Roberto Micheletti have agreed to meet this week for a dialogue mediated by Costa Rica. Deposed president Manuel Zelaya and current Honduran President Roberto Micheletti both backed the choice of Costa Rican President Oscar Arias, a Nobel Peace prize winner, to lead negotiations. Arias said that the two foes would start two-day talks in his house in San Jose on Thursday.
"It seems to me that there is willingness on both sides to seek a negotiated settlement through diplomacy, through dialogue," Arias stated.
Toncontin Reopens
The Toncontin airport in the capital of Honduras, Tegucigalpa reopened at 11:30 today.

US Participation re: Honduras
Former President of Honduras, Manuel Zelaya is scheduled to meet with Hillary Clinton at 1 p.m. in Washington.
President of Honduras, Roberto Micheletti is appreciative of Clinton's efforts, as echoed in his broadcast on the matter, "We support Clinton's attempt at advancing talks in this situation, particularly her efforts at finding a peaceful solution that is consistent with our national security and sovereignty."
President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, speaking from Russia, stated earlier today, "America supports now the restoration of the democratically elected president of Honduras, even though he has strongly opposed American policies"..."We do so not because we agree with him. We do so because we respect the universal principle that people should choose their own leaders, whether they are leaders we agree with or not."

Honduran Delegation Heads to Washington
Leading members of the Honduran National Congress, members of the private sector, and former members of the Honduran Judiciary will hold a press conference in Washington, D.C. to speak on recent events in Honduras. The press conference will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at 3:00 p.m.
The delegation will be traveling to Washington for several days of meetings with United States policymakers to clarify any misunderstandings about Honduras' constitutional process and to discuss next steps to ensure the preservation of the country's democratic institutions.
