Everything is ready for the Tee-off of the golf tournament “Open Honduras” which will officially start tomorrow May 28th, 2015 at the Indura Beach & Golf Resort in Tela, Atlantida, with the participation of 143 athletes from 20 countries of the world.
The Bay of Tela, Atlantida in Honduras will be hosting the PGA Tour Latinoamérica “Open Honduras” competition that will bring together 143 professional golfers from 20 countries.
In a joyous ceremony, between the Latin America PGA and Indura Beach & Golf Resort a contract was signed which confirmed the Bay of Tela as the host of this prestigious PGA event for the next three years. Present at the contract signing were the President of PGA Latin America, Jack Warfield, and the Mayor of Tela Mario Fuentes, along with the Director-General of Indura Beach & Golf Resort, José Gutiérrez and the director of golf at Indura, Manny Ortíz. PGA Latin America President was quoted as saying:
We seek the expansion of the tournament, and Honduras is prepared to receive this tournament that will undoubtedly be much for the golfers in this country who seek to excel.
José Gutiérrez, Director General of Indura Beach & Golf Resort said that:
Today is a new page in the history of Honduras because we will have the opportunity to showcase the country to more than 30 million viewers by hosting the PGA Tour Latin America and I don’t know what other industry can do this. It is an honor and a privilege that we can be the host.
Geoffrey Schacher and Geoffrey Maldonado, both Hondurans were confirmed to be part of the Tour which will feature Latin America’s best 143 golfers participating in the event. Schacher has already participated in past PGA events in other countries and has left high the name of Honduras and this time, at home, he hopes to ratify it.
