A Honduras victory would have moved the Catrachos into the 3 p.m. slot, and dropped Jamaica to the 6 p.m. match in Washington; however, after Honduras and Jamaica squared off in the CONCACAF Gold Cup June 13th, with first place in Group B on the line, the Catrachos lost their position.
The game was played at Red Bull Arena, in Harrison, New Jersey, and the referee was J. Aguilar
Honduras has only given up one goal this tournament, but tonight's game was a bitter disappointment for the Central American team.
Honduras, unfortunately, was hampered early when high-scoring forward Carlos Costly had to leave the game in the 26th minute with an injury.
Jamaica's Ryan Johnson scored the only goal of the match at 36 minutes, and the Catrachos were unable to draw level and had to come to terms with a defeat.
Honduras still qualifies, however, having finished second in Group B ahead of Guatemala on a goal difference.

FIFA
Played by millions around the world, soccer is the heart and soul of FIFA and as the guardian of this most cherished game, we have a great responsibility. This responsibility does not end with organizing the FIFA World Cup™ and the various other world cup competitions; it extends to safeguarding the Laws of the Game, developing the game around the world and to bringing hope to those less privileged. This is what we believe is the very essence of fair play and solidarity.
We see it as our mission to contribute towards building a better future for the world by using the power and popularity of football (futbol).
