Roatan Airport Shuttle Service

We are happy to announce a new service in Roatan – an airport shuttle. You can now share a ride!

New airport transportation began on Saturday, October 5, 2013, when Share-A-Ride and Private Ride transportation to and from the Roatan Airport went live for reservations.

Let the ROATAN AIRPORT SHUTTLE service provide you with safe, inexpensive Share-A-Ride transportation to and from the airport! Make your reservation on line, receive an email with a payment link. Once you have paid, you receive a confirmation email with the pick up time.

Passengers going to the airport, when you arrive, your printed boarding pass will be waiting for you and you are expedited to a special line at the airline! WOW………………

International Talk Like A Pirate Day

Arrrrr you ready? September 19th is International Talk Like A Pirate Day, celebrated across the world.  People dress in pirate apparel and spout phrases like, “Ahoy Matey!”.   Roatan is most definitely a “Pirate Island”, so get your talk on!

Roatan XIV International Bill Fish Tournament

Catch and Release – September 12th – 15th, 2013
The Roatan International Fishing Tournament proudly announces that they will donate part of their proceeds to Little Friends Foundation. LFF was founded by a group of concerned islanders to improve the health care system on the island. Please support the Roatan Fishing Tournament and you will be supporting public health care on the island.

Roatan International Shrimp Festival

June 17th and 18th will be Roatan’s annual two day international event. Live music with an international artist, more than 16 national and local artists, food, exhibitions, and cultural activities at Parrot Tree Plantation.

Roatan Fishing Tournament

Roatan’s 13th Annual International Fishing Tournament is the 13th through the 16th of September 2012.

Fisherpersons from all over the world are welcome to compete. Captains’ meeting will be held in West End on September 12th. Entertainment, food, and drinks provided.

Lionfish Derby

Following the success of Roatan’ first Derby in which over 1200 lionfish were eliminated, we have decided to hold another one on the weekend of May 14th and 15th.

Cash prizes will be awarded for most lionfish caught in a single day, smallest lionfish caught by weight, and largest lionfish by length.

$20 per team of 2 to enter one day, $30 to enter both days. Hours for both days are sunrise to 5 pm.

A registration and captains meeting will be held on Thursday at the RMP office in West End at 5 pm. We recommend that one person from each team attend. If you or your teammate cannot attend, please let us know ahead of time so we can make other arrangements for registration and explanation of rules.

The Cook-Off and awards ceremony will be held on Monday the 16th at Coconut Tree Restaurant in West End at 6:30 pm.

If you are interested in entering the Derby or Cook-off and would like more info, please stop by the RMP offices in West End or Barefoot Cay, or call 3320-6940.

Duck Races

The Sandy Bay Alternative School would like to invite you to join us for our first annual duck race, being held at the beautiful Infinity Bay Resort ” Spa on Sunday, May 15th from 2-5pm.

For only $5 you can purchase one of the limited number of ducks available for this exciting race. The radio station 101.1 will be broadcasting live.

We will have a variety of silent auctions, raffles and items for sale, with all proceeds going to the benefit the students at Sandy Bay Alternative School.

Please join us for this fun-filled event and cheer on your duck.

Roatan Dive Shop Olympics

SOL International Foundation will be holding the 4th Annual Dive Shop Olympics this Sunday, May 8th at the Land’s End Green Flash Bar in West End from 3 pm-9 pm.

This is the grand finale of the annual month-long Golden Buoy Fundraiser effort; dive shops compete against each other in 5 events: 3-person relay swim, 5-person tug-o-war, timed SCUBA equipment set-up, hot dog eating competition, and the ever popular BELLY FLOP!

Restaurant and Bar open at 3 pm, events starting at 4pm.

Live music between events! Everyone welcome to come out and participate or observe.

Roatan Cruise Ship News

Honduras tops the list of Central American countries with the highest  arrival of cruise ships and cruise passengers, according to the Bulletin  of Tourism Statistics in Central America.

According to the source, in 2010 Honduras received more than 800,000 cruise passengers.

According to the same source, about 301,330 cruise passengers visited  the island of Roatan in the first quarter of this year, representing an increase of 29.5% compared to the same period of 2010.

The projections for 2011 show that the two ports receive about 317 Roatan cruises, with which it plans to expect 927,972 cruise passengers visiting  the island.

This move could generate foreign exchange earnings of about $ 80  million, considering an average cost of 86.6 U.S. dollars per visitor.

RECO Meeting

RECO has scheduled a General Assembly (Shareholder meeting) for 10:00 am, Friday morning, February 25th, at the RECO office location in French Harbor, Roatan. The purpose of the Assembly is to seat a new Board of Directors, provide audited financial statements and operating reports, and to conduct other business.

Roatan Golf Tournament

The Rotary Club of Roatan will be sponsoring the 1st Annual Charity Golf Tournament at the Black Pearl Golf Course at Pristine Bay on Sunday, February 27th. Spots for the 4-man scramble tournament are currently sold out, HOWEVER THERE IS STILL ANOTHER WAY TO ENJOY THIS TERRIFIC DAY!

Spectator tickets are available for ONLY $20 that will allow you full access to experience this tournament and the beautiful Black Pearl Golf Course in Roatan for the day. These tickets include appetizers and a drink at the prize presentation ceremony to follow.

In addition, Roatan Radio FM 101.1 “The Island Buzz” will be running a shuttle bus the day of the event from their studio in West End to Pristine Bay. Spectators and participants are invited to ride on the inaugural “Roatan Radio Road Trip” for just $10/person round trip. We hope to see everyone at this exciting fundraiser event.
