Posada
del Sol
offers a variety of fishing experiences. Knowledgeable guides lead
you through the extensive salt flats on the trail of Bonefish and
Permit, or hunt down those big blue Marlin, Wahoo, and Sailfish
in the open seas.
Bone
& Permit Fly Fishing
Four and a half miles of virgin saltwater flats lie directly
offshore of Posada del Sol. Here, anglers can successfully
hunt schools of elusive Bonefish and Permit. The average Bonefish
weighs between 3 and 6 lbs., with the occasional 4 to 10 pounder.
Permit range from 10 to 18 lbs. Catching 8 to 10 Bonefish per day
on spinning tackle is not uncommon, and our expert guides make your
fishing adventure at Posada del Sol one to remember.
(Please bring your own equipment as we do not provide or rent tackle.)
You should bring your #7 to #9 weigh rods with 10 lb. to 12 lb.
test line, and rolls of tippet materials. For Bonefish, our internationally
known fishing guide, Robert Hyde, recommends green and white blouses,
white Percy charities, and Bonefish specials. For Permit, Robert
likes McCrab, epoxy heads and snapping shrimp. Taking a Permit on
a fly is another rare and thrilling experience to which we regularly
treat our angling guests. We have 2 three-man skiffs, 2 fishermen
and the guide, each equipped with a 55 hp outboard motor.
Deep
Sea Fishing
For
the sport-fishing enthusiast, Posada del Sol offers
fantastic deep-sea fishing. The rich and warm waters of the Caribbean
Sea are full of big game fish including Tuna, Jacks, Snapper, Barracuda,
white and blue Marlin, and Wahoo. The charter boat is a 30’
Defender that is equipped with international class tackle, providing
a combination of artificial lures and strip bait. Lures and jigs
that get consistently good results are the brown and yellow Rapallon
and plugs for Barracuda.
