Guanaja
is a lush tropical island, completely surrounded by magnificent
coral reefs and claims more than 800 species of fish and over 60
types of coral. Part of a volcanic and coral mountain range called
The Bonacca Ridge; Guanaja is the beginning of the second largest
barrier reef in the world.
Submerged
beneath crystal blue Caribbean water, are over 50 moored dive sites.
Coral walls starting at 18’ dropping vertically into the abyss,
mini-walls from the surface to 100’, grottoes, caves, pinnacles,
crevices, caverns, shipwrecks and more. This terrain is home to
Large Green Morays, Giant Grouper, Lobster, Crabs, Conch, Nurse
Sharks, Barracuda, Sting Rays, Spotted Eagle Rays, Dolphins, and
more.
Most
dive sites are 20 minutes or less from Posada del Sol,
except for Black Rock Canyon, and a few others on the North side,
which are approximately 35 minutes away.
Water
temperature ranges between 78 and 82 degrees Fahrenheit year round.
Visibility is from 70 to 150 feet, depending on weather conditions.
