Guanaja
has more than 50 spectacular moored dive sites.
Some
favorites include:
Tito’s
Labyrinth
Depth: 15-60 feet
If you like vertical walled canyons that lace together to form a
maze-like labyrinth of swim-throughs, then you will love this site.
The walls are filled with Lobster, Glass Sweepers, Squirrelfish
and Silversides. Keep your eyes peeled for Grouper, Snapper and
Nurse Sharks.
The
Drop-Off
Depth: 10-110 feet
This breathtaking site is overgrown with vibrant sponges, deepwater
gorgonians, and mystical caves full of Glassy Sweeper, Angelfish
and Blue Head Wrasses.
Jim’s
Silver Lode
Depth: 35-130 feet
This incredible wall dive features a cave opening at 75 feet, leading
into a sand canyon of sheer coral walls. Large Grouper, Silversides
and Moray Eels make this site their home. As you drift along this
wall, you will feel as if you are flying as the wall disappears
into the blue-black abyss below.
The
Pinnacle
Depth: 60-140 feet
An amazing half-mile series of grottoes and volcanic formations.
Jado
Trader
Depth: 45-110 feet
In 1987, Posada del Sol sank this 240-foot freighter.
She currently lies on her side adjacent to a reef wall which features
a chimney swim through and a stunning array of sponges, corals and
sea fans. Giant Grouper, Jewfish and a large playful Moray call
the wreck their home.
Vertigo
Depth: 25-2000 feet
This stunning site features a narrow coral ridge with blue open
water on either side. Large coral caves tunnel through outside to
inside walls, hosting an array of sponges, purple tunicates, and
black crinoids. Shhhh, be very quite, Black Tip Sharks are sleeping.
This one will keep you coming back again and again.
