| White-water Rafting on the Rio Cangrejal - 1/2 day |

Your
expedition in the Rio Platano Biosphere Reserve crosses the Rio Platano
Biosphere Reserve, following the course of the Platano River.
We begin in the river's mountainous headwaters and conclude at
its outlet at the Caribbean, we will marvel at the exuberant
tropical vegetation, navigate exciting Class III rapids, and
enjoy the pleasure of floating through pristine rainforest jungle.
Mysterious caves, ancient archaeological sites and contact with
the Pech, Miskitos and Garifuna cultures combine to make this
experience an unforgettable one - clearly not a tour, but rather
an expedition. Three species of monkeys, river otters, blue morpho
butterflies and a multitude of parrots and macaws will be our
constant companions, and with luck, we may cross paths with a
tapir or jaguar. This river flows through the center of the Rio
Platano Biosphere Reserve, a World Heritage Site and
the largest protected area in Central America.
