Mexico’s coach, Jose Manuel de la Torre, left annoyed by the tie against Honduras because he considers that Mexico deserved the win and that it was the referee’s error that cost Mexico the victory.
Coach de la Torre started his press conference by warning journalists to “don’t try to put words in my mouth”, then he lashed out at the arbitration by the referee, Courtney Campbell, saying “the referee set a trend, the rest you can interpret on your own. It’s a little frustrating, because when other factors intervene, then it gets rather difficult.”
“From the first play … we realized where the trend was heading to in certain aspects, but the team made a great effort and that left me calm.”
On Tuesday, Mexico will be facing USA in the Azteca Stadium.
