The New York Post Recognizes Indura as One of the “Hottest Hotels of 2014” to Open in Central America
January 28, 2014 – Opening March 8 on the spectacular stretch of Tela Bay on the Caribbean coast of Central America, Indura Beach & Golf Resort has already achieved recognition as one of the “Hottest Hotels of 2014” by the New York Post.
The name Indura is derived from the local Garifuna dialect, which simply means Honduras. The 60 room boutique hotel sits on 1,800 acres adjacent to the Jeanette Kawas National Park and Punta Sal. This biological corridor hosts hundreds of varieties of migrating birds between North and South America, while many of the most exotic call the region home. Howler and Spider monkeys are a part of the everyday scenery at the resort and treetop bridges have been created in order to not disrupt their arboreal life.
An 18-hole eco-sensitive golf course designed by Gary Player is also the only one in Central America managed by world renowned Troon. The expert golf managers have trained locals as caddies – our Indura Ambassadors – to provide an added level of experience. In addition to advising the best club to use, they can also share their knowledge about the flora and fauna as well as point out tracks left by the panthers the night before. Golf fees begin at $75 for evening golf, $100 for a mid-day round and $125 for prime tee time for hotel guests. Club Car golf carts and Callaway clubs are available for rental.
The Maina Spa also welcomes guests in March. Incorporating earth elements into the treatments and design, the spa cabanas catch the gentle ocean breeze while the sound of the waves help you drift into a sleepy oblivion. Designed to rejuvenate the body, mind and spirit, the treatments have tapped into the Honduran culture. Signature treatments include the Soothing Stone Massage with coconut oil to soothe your tired muscles and the Indura Earth Ritual mud wrap and scalp massage leaves you with a deep sense of well-being.
Indura offers excursions to trek, snorkel and explore the immediate area of the Jeanette Kawas Park and Punta Sal. Kayak through forested mangroves in La Ceiba, or navigate through Pico Bonito National Park where habitats range from cloud forests to tropical rain forests. Be sure to have your camera ready to capture the alligators, manatees and white tail deer that call this area home. Alternatively, if flora is more of your interest, Lacentilla is the largest botanical garden in the Americas and second largest in the world with over 750+ species of plants.
