President Lobo has stated that the only thing left available for the Honduran Telecommunications Company, HONDUTEL, is to create a joint venture with a foreign entity.
The government could provide workers and be involved at the management level, in exchange for funding and/or existing technology from another nation.
“That was my instruction from the beginning, but my surprise is that they are talking about a bailout, so they can go and compete. Imagine, why are you going to develop the same telephone, cable television, Internet … wireless, and provide other services we see in Honduras, when they are already are occurring in other countries?” he expressed.
Yesterday, President Lobo appointed new Hondutel commission leaders in hopes of forming an advantageous plan for the company.
