Siguatepeque offers a variety of options for dining. Without doubt, most of these are located right on the main Tegucigalpa to San Pedro Sula highway, since travelers frequently take advantage of the fact that Siguatepeque is halfway between both cities and offers a good spot to stretch legs, use toilet facilities and have a bite. Non the less, there are several good dining options in town that should not be overseen.

STEAK HOUSE EL CORRAL One of the premier restaurants of Siguatepeque, El Corral belongs to a local family, which produces high-quality meats in abundant variety. So don’t be surprised to find a menu which takes advantage of the best meat in Honduras for both Honduran and foreign dishes. The diverse menu includes seafood, and the atmosphere is cozy and romantic. You will also find good wines here. The noise and bustle of larger establishments will seem very distant!

CAFETERIA EL CORRAL Located at the El Corral Supermarket has a pleasant cafeteria offering a range of snacks, and is very popular with tourists and locals alike for a breakfast or lunch. Tel. 773-1283. Their specialty, “carnitas” a meat dish has made them extremely popular for lunch. True espresso and cappuccino coffee!

NELLYS KITCHEN Part of the Park Place complex. A short walk upstairs, Nellys offers an amazing range of international dishes on its bilingual English and Spanish menu, as well as cocktails and wines from across the globe Telephone 773-0505. From your vantage point above Central Park you can watch the locals come and go.

LAS CARNITAS This establishment has started to draw considerable interest from discriminating diners. Located a little out of town (about 2 km along the paved road heading towards San Pedro Sula), on the Calle 21 de Agosto in front of the Dippsa Service Station, they sell a wide range of high quality milk products. The owner has created a warm family atmosphere in which to enjoy carefully-made traditional meat dishes, as well as fruit juices. Ideal for larger groups and meetings. Tel. 773-5333.

ADOBES A restaurant with a pleasant family atmosphere, the owner has prepared a diverse menu, combining typical Honduran dishes with international and American dishes. The restaurant has air conditioning, so you can enjoy lunch or dinner here. Outside there is a kids play area and trampoline, and a souvenir store. Located next to a car maintenance shop.

ATENCIONES MARGARITA You don’t need to go to Lake Yojoa to enjoy the traditional fried fish from the region. Located along the main highway, the owners specialize in preparing tasty tilapia or bass, which you can accompany with fried plantains or fries. The onions and chile in vinegar, which you can add to your plate, are carefully prepared and nicely seasoned. You can also ask for meat and chicken dishes. Their telephone is 773-5478.

LA MANGOSTA Right on the corner of Central Park, you will find the latest restaurant to open in town. A two-storey building, next to the Boarding House Hotel, both floors are decorated in a distinctive and eclectic style, which is attractive and relaxing. Upstairs you can relax with a drink in a reception area with sofas and magazines, order your food and then go to your table. The menu offers the usual range of typical Honduran and international dishes, as well as snacks. Without doubt the in spot for the local youths looking for a safe, comfortable, fun spot to have fun.

PIZZERÍA Y REPOSTERÍA LA PLAZA In front of Plaza San Pablo, Pizzeria Plaza offers pizzas and combos of snacks and refreshments. Next door you can buy a range of cakes and bread.

RESTAURANTE VILLA VERDE A new restaurant in a delightful natural setting, Villa Verde is located about 5 km from Siguatepeque towards San Pedro Sula. Here you can try the gamut of traditional Honduran foods, including pinchos and refried beans. The owners have created a home for small domestic animals such as geese and turkeys – to the delight of youngsters – and sell a range of organic produce.

PIZZERIA VENECIA DOWNTOWN The Pizzeria is one of the oldest restaurants in town, and serves a variety of high-quality pizzas using the Italian recipes of its original owner. Service is excellent, and there is a quiet, alcohol-free atmosphere.

 

PIZZERIA VENECIA A totally new building with air conditioning, a playing area for children, safe parking and most of all, the famous high quality pizza produced by an Italian – Honduran family with many years of tradition. Many consider this the best pizza between San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa. Located on the Tegucigalpa side of the entrance to Siguatepeque, close to the Texaco service station. Open daily from 11:00 a.m till 9:00 p.m. owners always on premises. Great family atmosphere

CHICKEN FRIENDS next to the Catholic Church is a pleasant restaurant that offers poultry dishes accompanied by a cabbage and mayonnaise salad, with fries. This is an alcohol-free establishment with a family-type atmosphere.

LA IGUANA MIA
Located on the western side of the Municpality, this restaurant is owned by an American Expat and offers a variety of US style dishes. A good place to meet local expats.

GLORIAS’S PLACE:
Owned and operated by a Honduran woman and her American husband. It is a small place serving Mexican-style food with a Honduran touch. Their offerings include snacks as well as main meals, especially burritas, chimichangas and fajitas. It is a haunt frequented by both locals and expatriates.

LA BARBACOA A long-established fixture in Siguatepeque, La Barbacoa lies next to a small bridge half a kilometer along the road out of town towards the highway. The menu contains all kinds of Honduran recipes, including the best anafres (fried beans in a clay pot) in town, red meat, chicken and seafood, as well as specially-prepared refried beans.

RESTAURANTE EL COMAL is located close to the turn off into Siguatepeque on the main highway. They offer typical and international dishes, in a rustic and relaxing environment. On Saturdays, they host karaoke events.

COMEDOR DON TIKI One of a large number of buffet-style eateries along the main highway, Don Tiki is locally famous for its generous portion sizes and its cleanliness. One of the main stopping points for inter-city buses, here you will find both ice cream and a cafeteria.

GRANJA D’ELIA The Granja D'Elia is located on the main highway at the turnoff to La Esperanza, is a stopover for traffic between San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa. It is a grocery store, cafeteria, bakery, coffee store, liquor market and restaurant combined. There is a small children’s play area, bathroom facilities and a zoo. Vegetables are sold, as are soft drinks and fruit juices. The complex includes a branch of Banco Atlantida. The complex also provides conference services.

RESTAURANTE LA BETANIA Located on the main highway near the National Forestry School (ESNACIFOR), this excellent eatery offers good food at any time of day. Very popular for a quick and hearty meal. Recently the owners have added a supermarket and a handicrafts shop.

LA BETUNIA Offers a buffet-style menu in a quiet, clean venue, as well as coffee and ice cream. It also sells high-quality bread and baguettes, and all kinds of cakes. It has become an important information center and is a good spot to get local information you might need for your visit to Tegucigalpa or La Esperanza. It is located on the north ( San Pedro Sula ) side of the detour towards La Esperanza.

BONGOS Located in the Turicentro Castaneda Building, right on the road, this restaurant offers buffet style food in a fresh, clean environment decorated in a very modern style. Also a la carte dining. Large children’s playground in the outside. Impeccable toilet facilities are also a plus. Also fast food to go drive through for those in a hurry and no time to stop. Large meeting facilities inside, as well as a nice, quite complete convenience and souvenir shop. No alcoholic beverages, with the exception of wine served on premises. Open daily from 6:00 a.m. till 10:00 p.m.

TEXACO VALERIANO The Texaco service station located on the detour towards La Esperanza offers basic foods including pizza, hot dogs, soft drinks, etc for those who want to take advantage of getting a bite while refueling their vehicle. They also have a tire repair shop on premises.
