Update: August 8th, 2013
The Soccer match between Honduras and El Salvador scheduled for the 14th of August has been cancelled by the El Salvador delegation. The reason given by the Salvadoran football delegation was unclear but center an investigation of eight of their own players which has been going on for many weeks. The Honduras National Federation of Football (FNAFUTH) was caught off guard with this decision and expressed their disappointment that the match has been cancelled. Originally the Honduran Delegation had sought to have a “warm up game” between either: Cuba, Bolivia, El Salvador or Haiti.
Due to the cancellation of this match Honduras will now confront Mexico in Mexico at the Azteca Stadium on September 6th 2013, with a “practice game which would have given the Selección Catracha a chance to play together before what will be one of the most important World Cup qualifying matches in 2013. Following the match in Mexico, Honduras will have only two games left to qualify to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The Honduras National Selection Soccer Team (La Bicolor H) also known as (La Selección) will once again face the EL Salvador National Soccer Team (Cuscatlecos ) during 2013 as confirmed recently by (FENAFUTH) the “Federación Nacional de Fútbol Hondureño”. The soccer match Honduras vs El Salvador will be held on Wednesday the 14th of August, 2013 at the Olympic Stadium in San Pedro Sula
Honduras. Because this is a sanctioned game by FIFA the Honduran National Team Coach Luis Suarez will have at his disposal all of his players including his legionaries.

This match will serve Coach Luis Suarez in a way that will allow him to make a final evaluation of the Honduras National Team prior to the upcoming qualifying match of the Concacaf Hexagonal with México in the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City on September 6, a match which is vital to the aspirations of Honduras to consecutively qualify for a second World Cup in Brazil 2014.
This news and schedule has not fallen well on the “Liga Nacional de Fútbol” Honduras National Football League as the scheduling conflicts with national league games being played simultaneously around the county of Honduras. In San Pedro Sula Real España will be playing vs Parillas One (New Tela Team this year) at practically the same time using the downtown Francisco Morazan Stadium. This will no doubt affect attendance for the National League game as well as TV coverage for the Honduras vs El Salvador will surely top the Television and Radio coverage of the Parillas One vs Real Espana game; leaving many sponsor in a quandary.
The other teams playing the night of Wednesday 14, 2013 are Victoria vs Real Sociedad in La Ceiba and Platense vs Marathon in Puerto Cortes. The match between Motagua vs Vida in Comayagua, was moved to Thursday the 15th.
The Bicolor will gather Monday on August 12th in San Pedro Sula, according to said the the national representative and manager of the Seleccion, Gerardo Ramos. The focus will be to prepare for the qualifying match against Mexico on September 6th, Ramos reported that the Catracha delegation (Another Nick-Name for the Hondurans National Team) will gather in Miami afterwards and go to México D.F. on the 5th of September to México City Distrito Federal, a day before the Honduras soccer match against Mexico at the Azteca Stadium.
The Honduras Delegation will then return that same day to prepare to face Panamá on September 10th at the Honduras National in Tegucigalpa The Fenafuth admitted that it blocked 24 players who are active abroad. In the coming days, National Team Coach Luis Suarez will present the possible roster for the soccer game vs El Salvador and rumor has it that we may see some surprises, one of them could be the return of the attacker from the New England Revolutions Jerry Bengtson, who had been separated from the Bicolor by acts of indiscipline. Also, Ramón Núñez is speculated to return and join the team.
