Honduras Internet Service Providers
The country of Honduras has come a long ways in the past 10 years when it comes to Internet Service. It is now possible to get Intersnet service just about anywhere in the country except for areas that do not have cell phone service. Tigo and Claro both provide high speed internet packages via Cellular 3G and recently 4G in selected areas, throughout the entire country. Amnet and Navega ( Both divisions of Tigo ) provide residential as well as high end business solutions. In addition, Hondutel the Honduran State owned Telephone company now provides Internet service to anyone in the country who has a fixed telephone. Hondutel service ranges from simple dial up apy by the minute charged to your phone bill to high speed Broadband communications. A 2 MB Hondutel Internet service cost 1,000 lempiras (Just over US $ 50.00) a month and is the service that most of our Honduras.com staff uses. All of the afore mentioned companies offer Wireless “WiFi” connectivity packages where running fiber optics or copper cable is difficult.
Although Website Hosting services are available in Honduras, we recommend that any mission critical or for that matter business locate their server outside the country as the Fiber Optic cables that connect Honduras to the rest of the world are sometimes subject to vandalism (copper and fiber cables are sold on the black market for pretty good money) as well as natural disasters.
