Honduras DNIC Seizes Cigarettes
The National Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DNIC - La Dirección Nacional de Investigación Criminal) seized cartons of cigarettes valued at two million Lempiras, in an operation carried out between Fifth and Sixth Avenue in Comayaguela.
Cigarettes being confiscated in Honduras
A total of 52,280 units of this tobacco product were taken for failure to comply with the standards set by the Honduran Institute for the Prevention of Alcoholism (IHADFA – Instituto Hondureño para la Prevención del Alcoholismo).
The cigarettes had passed the border without supervision and payment of taxes to the Aduana.
The seized items were brands from the United States, Chile, and Paraguay, in addition to others. People who traded this product are under investigation.
