
Honduras wins big vs Lithuania
The World Baseball Classic was created in order to further promote the game and Major League Baseball around the globe. The tournament was announced in May 2005 by Major League Baseball and their Players Association (MLBPA). Starting in 2013 , the World Baseball Classic will award the winners as World Champions.
Honduras is participating with its SUB 15 baseball team which dominated Lithuania in a 12-2 seven-inning victory on Thursday August 16th, 2012 in the first game in Chihuahua, Mexico at the I IBAF 15U Baseball World Championship. They scored nine runs in the third to decide things quickly. Two runs in the seventh ended the contest early due to ten-run mercy rule.
Oscar Rosorio gave Honduras an early 1-0 advantage in the first with a RBI single to center. Lithuania stayed in the game until the third, when the floodgates opened. Nine runs scored for Honduras on five hits and five of the eight errors by the Europeans.
Ramses Valladares stood out for the team from Central America. He went 2-for-4 with a triple, three runs and three RBI. Kevin Reyes drove in two. Lukas Pupininkas and Romantas Trumpa scored the two runs for Lithuania in the fifth.
On the mound Kevin Reyes also led the way. He started and issued only four hits, two runs (1 ER) and three walks in five innings. He struck out seven for the win. Marius Balandis did a good job early on before falling apart in the third. He surrendered four hits, eight runs (3 ER) and three walks in 2 1/3 innings.
Update:
Chinese Taipei scored all 14 runs of their 14-0 shutout over Honduras between the second and fifth, celebrating their first win in the first game of the I IBAF 15U Baseball World Championship. They were rained out on Thursday evening, while Honduras had beaten Lithuania.
Hung Chen Wei went 3-for-4 with three runs scored to lead the way. Catcher Lin Chih Cheng also crossed the plate three times. Chueh Ting Chin received the win, pitching in relief.

Mexico 14 – Honduras 1
Host Mexico stays on course at the I IBAF Baseball World Championship. After crushing Lithuania on Friday, they defeated Honduras 14-1 in seven innings. Jesus Brito retired 12 of the first 15 players to lead his team to the win. Ramsas Valladares couldn’t get anybody out in the first to take the loss. Seven Mexican runs in the sixth ended the game due to ten-run rule.
Update:
Honduras took advantage from a terrible start of the Italian pitcher and collected five walks, a double and three hits to score eight times in the first inning of the game.
The azzurri, with reliever Ludovico Coveri, found the way to stop the offense for five innings , but could not find the way to completely fill the gap.
Team Italy scored twice in the fourth and one time in the sixth, seventh and ninth, but Honduras’ bats broke the spell in the seventh, with three more runs, and scored twice in the eighth and fixed the final score at 13-5

After three-plus days with lopsided and mostly expected wins at the I IBAF 15U Baseball World Championship, the tournament saw its first big surprise on Sunday evening, when Chinese Taipei came back from a 0-4 disadvantage to beat host Mexico 6-4, getting into pole position to claim first place in Group A.
In Group B Cuba is already secure in first place, while Nicaragua and Venezuela battle for the top position in Group C. The two best teams from each pool advance to the second round. The first round ends on Monday with six games. There were some slight schedule changes for Parral. Both games were moved ahead to avoid any further delays, as rain is in the forecast for the evening.
Update:
Honduras finished the tournament with a record of 2 wins and 2 loses. Honduras Baseball is off to a good start in the International arena. Keep it up Catrachos.
