17 year old Jose Ramon Madrid Padilla has won a silver medal in the 51st International Olympics of Mathematics.
The international event was held in Astana, Kazakhstan, and Honduran-born Jose Ramon, a graduate of Juan Lindo High School in Trinidad, Santa Barbara, participated in the event for the second consecutive year. Last year, Mr. Padilla was awarded a bronze medal at the competition held in Germany.
The annual competition is attended by delegations from 96 countries.
Jose Ramon studies at the National Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA) in Brazil.
