| DOWN SYNDROME FOUNDATION | WE ARE A PARENTS ASSOCIATION THAT WANT TO SHARE WHAT WE HAVE IN COMMON, OUR EXPERIENCES WITH DOWN SYNDROME. | | | | | All of us have lived through moments of doubt and of the rewarding gratification of having at home a child with Down syndrome. We have learned that they are persons with an interior world that is very intense and marvelous, rather than causing us any trouble, they have enriched our lives with their special way of being. We also learned that they have an amazing capacity to adapt themselves and learn. There is much we can do to help them to integrate with the community and it's norms. | | | | | | We know that there are many homes with children and adults affected by Down syndrome that need orientation and support. We believe that the best way to do accomplish this is by sharing personal experiences and mutual knowledge. This non profit foundation was created by parents for parents of Down syndrome children and adults on August 15 of 1998, so that we can share experiences and acquire the knowledge that will allow Down syndrome children to be integrated and have a place in the community. Parents will be taught how to provide their child rules for their adaptation and promote family unity. The community will be made aware of the need to accept and support Down syndrome citizens. | | | | | | | | 5 calle S.O. 18-19 Av. #140-B or P.O.Box # 154 | | Telephone (+504) 552-5287, 552-5296 or 550-9136 | | San Pedro Sula, Honduras | | E-mail: fdown@honduras.com |
