Chiminike is a children’s museum in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, that was built with funds from the World Bank. The complex has eight galleries where children learn though play. The building is a place with soaring ceilings, filled with games, towns, and gym equipment – four floors of pure educational fun.
Costumes, kid sized construction vehicles, a grocery store and construction site, a giant nose that sneezes on you, and a life sized game of Operation are just a few of the amazing exhibits. Also in the museum you will find a giant volcano that produces “lava,” a bubble room, a VW Beetle that encourages finger-paint graffiti, and a room tilted at a 22-degree angle.
For information, call 504/291-0339, or visit their website at http://www.chiminike.com. Admission is 50 Lempiras. Hours of operation are Tues-Fri: 9-12 and 2-5; Sat-Sun they are open 10-1 and 2-5.
