Cerro Azul Meambar National Park

Along the eastern shore of Lake Yojoa, a tropical forest rises high above the horizon.

Cerro Azul Meambar was named a National Park in 1987 to protect the richly diverse tropical forests and their inhabitants. Myriad bird species can be found within its 478 square kilometer boundary as well as mammals and reptiles.

Most people visit Cerro Azul Meambar to hike and enjoy the series of beautiful waterfalls along the main trail which ascends the top of the mountain before reaching a vista of Lake Yojoa on a clear day.
